What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a gentle and supportive approach that uses deep relaxation to help you access a calm, focused state of awareness.  In this state, your mind becomes more open and receptive, allowing us to explore thoughts, patterns, and behaviours in a way that feels safe and manageable.  This can help reduce stress, create positive change, and support your overall wellbeing.

How it Works

We all have a conscious and unconscious mind. Your conscious mind is the part you use to think, analyse, and make decisions. Your unconscious mind quietly influences how we think, feel, and respond to situations, often without us realising.

Sometimes unhelpful patterns or beliefs can become stored here, which may lead to feelings of anxiety, stress or feeling stuck.

Hypnotherapy works by gently accessing the unconscious part of the mind, allowing us to begin reshaping these patterns in a supportive and positive way, creating change that feels natural and lasting.

Hypnosis is a completely natural experience that we all move in and out of during every life. For example, if you’ve ever found yourself daydreaming, or driving somewhere and suddenly realising you don’t remember part of the journey, you’ve already experienced a form of this focused absorbed state.

In hypnotherapy, we simple use this natural ability in a more intentional in a supportive way.

What Hypnotherapy Can Help With

Hypnotherapy can support a wide range of areas, including:

  • Anxiety, stress, and overthinking
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Fears and Phobias (such as flying, needles, dental, driving, or public speaking)
  • Breaking habits (such as smoking/vaping or emotional eating)
  • Weight loss
  • Chronic Pain and its emotional impact
  • Performance and focus (work, exams and personal goals)
  • Life transitions (such as midlife and menopause)

A Personalised Approach

Because everyone is unique, every session is tailored specifically to you. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable, creating a calm and supportive space where you can feel at ease, heard and understood. Some people come with a specific goal, while others are simply looking to feel more balanced or less overwhelmed. Wherever you are, sessions are adapted to meet your individual needs.

A Gentle but Effective Approach

Hypnotherapy allow us to work directly with the part of the mind where change happens more naturally. Because of this, many people begin to notice positive shifts in relatively short spaces of time, often more quickly than with more traditional talking therapies.

The aim is not to ‘fix’ you, but to support you in making changes that feel right for you, helping you move forward with greater ease and confidence.

Visualisation in Sessions

During sessions, we may use gentle visualisation techniques to support relaxation and change. There is no right or wrong way to experience this. Some people imagine images clearly, while others many notice feelings, sounds, or simply a sense of knowing. However, you experience it is completely natural, and hypnotherapy is effective regardless of how you visualise.

What is Angelic Reiki?

Angelic Reiki is a gentle, soothing energy therapy.  It channels high frequency healing energy to support your natural ability to heal, helping you release energic blockages, and bring your nervous system back into a state of harmony.  Many people are drawn to Angelic Reiki during times of stress, emotional overwhelm, or when they feel disconnected from themselves.

As the body relaxes, it works with the four primary energies bodies, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, to facilitate deep healing and bring about harmony and peace.

What To Expect

Angelic Reiki is a completely calming experience, and clients often report feeing relaxed and at peace, lighter as if something has been released, more balanced emotionally, clearer and more connected to themselves.  Some people also notice a sense of warmth, gentle tingling, or a comforting stillness during the session.

Because the body and mind are so closely connected, this deep state of relaxation can support emotional wellbeing, reduce stress, and encourage the body’s natural healing processes.

Hypnotherapy & Angelic Reiki (Optional)

I offer a unique blend of hypnotherapy and Angelic Reiki, bringing together therapeutic techniques and gentle energy work, creating a deeper level of relaxation where both the mind and body are more open to positive change.

As the energy work helps to calm the nervous system and release emotional tension, it can enhance the effects of hypnotherapy, allow new, supportive patterns to settle more naturally and deeply. Together they offer a gentle yet powerful way to feel more balanced, more grounded, and more connected to yourself.

Including Angelic reiki is always your choice into your treatment plan. Some clients prefer hypnotherapy on its own, while others find that combining the two creates a deeper sense of relaxation and wellbeing support.

Mindfulness & Relaxation

Alongside hypnotherapy, mindfulness is often woven naturally into my programmes and sessions, offering an additional layer of support to help you feel more balanced, steady, and at ease as you move forward.

Mindfulness is a simple yet effective way of bringing your awareness to the present moment, helping you to quiet a busy mind and reduce feelings of stress or overwhelm.  Within sessions, this may include gentle techniques to help you slow down, regulate your thoughts, and create a greater sense of calm both during and outside our work together.

Mindfulness can support clients to manage their stress and anxiety, feel more grounded and in control and create moments of calm within busy or overwhelming days

These approaches can also be used between sessions, giving you practical tools to support your wellbeing in everyday life.

What Is NLP & How Does It Work Alongside Hypnotherapy?

You might have come across the word NLP and wondered what is actually means. In simple terms it means, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), which is about understanding how your thoughts (neuro), language (linguistic) and behaviours (programming), all work together, and how small shifts in these areas can create meaningful change.

We all develop patterns over time, for example, you might notice your mind automatically jumps to worst-case scenarios, or you feel a knot in your stomach before certain situations without really knowing why. NLP helps gently uncover those patterns and, more importantly, gives us ways to change them.

There’s also a growing understanding in neuroscience that the brain is adaptable, often referred to as neuroplasticity. This means your brain is capable of forming new connections and responses throughout your life. NLP works with this natural ability, helping you create new patterns that feel more supportive and balanced.

How Can NLP Help

NLP is very practical and tailored to you as an individual, and can be helpful for things like:

  • Feeling stuck in cycles of anxiety or overthinking
  • Struggling with confidence or self-doubt
  • Letting go of habits that no longer serve you
  • Managing stress or emotional overwhelm
  • Improving how you communicate with others (and with yourself)

For instance, if you tend to replay past mistake over and over, NLP can help shift how the memory is processed, so it loses its emotional intensity and no longer affects you in the same way.  Or, if you have a strong fear response (like phobia, or panic in certain situations), NLP techniques can help your mind begin to respond in calmer, more steadier way over time.

How Does NLP Work

A lot of what drives our thoughts and behaviours happen beneath conscious awareness.  That’s why simply ‘trying to think differently’ doesn’t always bring lasting change.

NLP works by engaging with the way your mind already processes experiences.  Through gentle guided techniques, we can,

  • Notice and understand your current patterns
  • Shift how experiences are represented internally
  • Encourage new, more helpful responses

This links closely with how the brain encodes memories and emotional responses.  By changing the way something is ‘held’, in the mind, it can begin to feel different often quite quickly.

NLP & Hypnotherapy Working Together

This is where hypnotherapy and NLP work beautifully together.  Hypnotherapy helps you enter a focused inner state of awareness where your mind becomes more open and receptive.  Many people describe it as similar to that calm, in between state just before sleep.  In this state, the brain activity often slow into what’s known as alpha or theta waves, linked with relaxation, learning, and memory processing.  This creates an ideal space for change.

Combined with NLP, this allows us to work with patterns at a deeper level, and gentle reshape emotional responses, and reinforce new ways of thinking and feeling.  For example, if someone feel anxious speaking in meetings, hypnotherapy can help them feel calm and settled internally, while NLP techniques help shift how they perceive themselves in that situation, building a sense of confidence that feels more natural and steadier.
